The SECO 00017762 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Part of the MDT series, this insert carries the CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating over a micrograin carbide substrate. It delivers a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches and a cutting height of 0.177 inches, with a 0.059-inch corner radius. The neutral hand orientation and LCMR1603M0-0300-MP style designation make this a versatile choice for machinists requiring consistent geometry across multiple pass directions. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is suited for use on CNC turning centers and multi-directional turning applications where controlled chip formation is critical. The MP chipbreaker geometry supports reliable performance across a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, carbon steels, and superalloys, as reflected in the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a single-end insert intended for light to medium turning passes in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with MDT series toolholders accepting LCMR-style inserts. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Verify toolholder and pocket specifications against the LCMR1603M0 insert size code before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating the insert. Never attempt to re-grind or modify the cutting edge of a coated carbide insert.
