The SECO 00016725 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from micrograin carbide in the CP500 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The LCMR-style geometry features a neutral hand orientation and a full-radius profile. Maximum cutting width is 0.157 inches, cutting height is 0.157 inches, and the corner radius is 0.016 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this tooling insert.
This insert is suited for turning, profiling, and grooving applications in both production and job-shop environments. The CP500 grade and PVD coating make it compatible with a wide range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials (N), general steels (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). The FT chipbreaker geometry supports chip control during light to medium cutting passes. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in MDT series tool holders accepting LCMR130404-0400-FT style inserts. Verify tool holder pocket geometry and insert seating requirements before installation. No specific machine or holder model compatibility was provided in the product data.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the tool holder manufacturer's torque specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the program is in a safe state before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters defined in the SECO CP500 grade application guidelines.
