The SECO 00016705 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the LCMF style with a CP500 material grade and PVD coating, this insert delivers consistent performance across a range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and double-end configuration maximize usable cutting edges per insert. A cutting height of 0.157 inches and a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches (3.00 mm) make it well suited for controlled, repeatable groove profiles in high-production environments.
This insert is used in MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders in both light and medium-duty turning applications. The FT chipbreaker geometry is optimized for chip control across multiple material classes including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is installed and managed by CNC machinists and tool crib technicians working in production machining, job shop, and contract manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in SECO MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCMF-style inserts. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. This item is sold in multiples of 10 at the minimum order quantity.
