The SECO 00015848 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert with ANSI designation DCGT32.51F-ALKX and ISO code DCGT11T304F-AL. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a positive rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge designed for finishing and light machining operations. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches decimal), and the corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0157 inches decimal). With two cutting edges and a positive side clearance, this insert is engineered for high wear resistance when cutting aluminum and non-ferrous metals. It is held by screw and suited to multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, and back turning.
This insert is designed for machining non-ferrous metals, primarily aluminum alloys, where a sharp, uncoated carbide edge delivers superior surface finish and minimizes built-up edge. The AL chip breaker geometry supports finishing and light machining passes. It is compatible with material grades N15, N20, and N25. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
