The SECO 00013885 is a neutral-hand MTEN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It accepts TN..66. series inserts held securely by a clamp-and-pin Multiple Lock system, which resists insert movement under interrupted cuts and heavy chip loads. The shank measures 1.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall with an overall length of 7 inches. The negative rake geometry at -10 degrees provides a strong cutting edge for machining a wide range of workpiece materials, making this holder suitable for high-production turning environments where insert security and repeatability are critical.
This toolholder is intended for use in turning centers and engine lathes where a 1.5 x 1.5 inch shank pocket is available. The neutral cutting direction suits applications where the same holder can feed toward or away from the spindle, reducing the number of holders required in a turret. The primary workpiece material codes cover a universal range including H, K, M, N, P, and S classifications, meaning it handles steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and superalloy turning without requiring a dedicated holder for each material group. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this toolholder.
Designed to accept TN..66. series indexable inserts with a compatible insert size code of TN66 and an inscribed circle of 0.75 inches. Fits lathe tool posts and turret stations sized for a 1.5 x 1.5 inch shank. SECO catalog reference for this holder is MTENNS246.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC turning technicians. Before mounting or indexing inserts, power down the machine and engage the spindle lock per the machine tool manufacturer's lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp screws specified for the Multiple Lock system — do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the shank seating surface and turret pocket for chips or burrs before tightening to ensure accurate tool height and centerline positioning.
