The SECO 00013206 is a right-hand MVLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a negative rake geometry with a -4 degree rake angle and a -5 degree lead angle, making it well-suited for heavy interrupted cuts and general-purpose material removal. The toolholder accepts VN..43. series inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, secured via a Multiple Lock clamp and pin system for rigid, repeatable insert positioning. The 1 inch by 1 inch square shank fits standard turning center and lathe toolposts. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find this holder appropriate for a wide range of workpiece materials.
This toolholder is intended for right-hand cutting direction in turning applications. The MVLN geometry is a common style used on both manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers where a negative-rake insert is specified. Primary workpiece material compatibility spans universal classifications including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 6 inch overall length and 1.5 inch head length suit typical production turning setups where shank projection must be managed for tool clearance.
Designed to accept VN..43. series indexable inserts with a compatible insert size code of VN43 and a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. The toolholder is listed under the SECO catalog reference MVLNR L164D.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before mounting or indexing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the toolpost or turret and confirm the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping the insert. Follow the machine tool and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for proper torque on clamp screws to avoid insert movement or seat damage.
