The SECO 00012757 is a left-hand MSRN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It features a negative rake geometry with a -6-degree rake angle and a 15-degree lead angle, delivering stable cutting performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The toolholder accepts SN..64. series inserts secured by a clamp and pin holding method, which provides rigid insert location and resists displacement under interrupted cuts or heavy chip loads. A licensed machinist or CNC setup technician typically installs and indexes this toolholder during turning operations.
This toolholder is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on universal workpiece materials, including steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and other material groups corresponding to ISO designations H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is sized for standard tool blocks and turrets that accommodate a 1.25-inch by 1.25-inch square shank. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on production and job-shop lathes where consistent insert repeatability is required.
Designed to accept SN..64. series indexable inserts with a 3/4-inch inscribed circle and an SN64 size code, held by a clamp and pin method. Fits tool blocks and turrets sized for a 1.25-inch square shank.
Installation and insert indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Shut down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Verify shank seating and clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the machine's recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the insert and toolholder combination in use.
