The SECO 00011343 is a laydown threading insert designed for external American Buttress thread cutting operations. Built from solid carbide in the CP500 grade with a micrograin substrate, this insert carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is sized at a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle with a thickness of 0.1366 inches and a corner radius of 0.0050 inches. The right-hand configuration cuts 12 threads per inch and follows ISO standards. It belongs to the Snap Tap series and is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual lathes and CNC turning centers.
This insert is suited for right-hand external American Buttress threading applications where controlled thread form and tool life are priorities. The CP500 grade with PVD coating supports use across universal workpiece materials, including ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by material codes K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include power-transmission screw components, jack screws, and other parts requiring the asymmetric load-bearing profile of the Buttress thread form. The 16ER insert style seats in compatible Snap Tap toolholders designed for laydown insert geometry.
Designed for use with Snap Tap series toolholders accepting the 16ER laydown insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece material codes per the manufacturer are K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before securing. Do not use a damaged or improperly seated insert, as this can affect thread form accuracy and create a hazard.
