The SECO 00011166 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting external Stub Acme threads at 8 threads per inch (TPI). Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this insert delivers the hardness and thermal resistance required for consistent thread form in demanding turning applications. The right-hand configuration suits standard external threading operations on a CNC or manual lathe. With an inscribed circle of 9.53 mm and a thickness of 3.47 mm (0.1366 inches), the insert seats precisely in compatible 16ER toolholders. It is installed and indexed by machinists and toolroom professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is used in external Stub Acme threading operations where precise thread form and surface finish are critical. The Stub Acme thread standard is common in power transmission components such as lead screws, jacks, and linear actuators. The TiAlN/TiN PVD coating supports performance across a range of workpiece materials including steel and alloy materials typical in mechanical assembly and industrial manufacturing contexts.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders configured for right-hand external Stub Acme threading applications.
This insert is installed and indexed by machinists using standard insert clamping hardware appropriate for 16ER laydown toolholders. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and verify thread form with a go/no-go gauge after the first pass.
