The SECO 00002849 is a right-hand CFMR-style indexable turning toolholder designed for cut-off and grooving operations on CNC and manual turning centers. Built on a 0.75 x 0.75 inch steel shank with an overall length of 4.5 inches, it accepts LC..1603.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The 00002849 is part of SECO's Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and supports coolant-through capability, making it suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials including ferrous alloys, non-ferrous metals, stainless, superalloys, and plastics. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this holder in standard square-shank toolposts and turrets.
This toolholder is suited for both production turning and job-shop environments where versatility across material types is required. The CFMR style and 90-degree lead angle position the cutting edge for efficient radial grooving and parting operations. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.43 inches and an insert width of 0.125 inches (3.00 mm), it handles light to moderate grooving passes. The back-of-bar to cutting edge distance is 1.00 inch, and the head length is 1.14 inches, allowing straightforward setup on most turret-style lathes in both shop and production settings.
Compatible with LC..1603.. series inserts, including LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR styles with an insert size code of LC1603. Designed as an OEM-style fit for standard square-shank toolposts and turrets accepting a 0.75 x 0.75 inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder. Verify turret or toolpost bore dimensions match the 0.75 x 0.75 inch shank before seating the holder. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and aligned with the machine's internal coolant supply before operation.
