The SECO 00000305 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CNMG432-MR4 series, carrying manufacturer grade 883. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance geometry, a T-Land cutting edge style, and an MR4 chip breaker designed for roughing and medium machining operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the corner radius is 0.03 inches (1/32 inch), and insert thickness is 0.19 inches (3/16 inch). With 4 usable cutting edges and compatibility with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods, this insert is engineered to deliver high wear resistance and toughness in demanding applications.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on superalloys and titanium as the primary workpiece material, with secondary applicability to steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. Material grades S10, S20, and S30 indicate the insert is optimized for difficult-to-machine aerospace and high-temperature alloys. It is used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes wherever the CNMG432 form factor is required, and is typically installed by machinists, tooling specialists, and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for toolholders accepting the CNMG432 (ANSI) or CNMG120408 (ISO) insert form factor with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Multi-use application covers boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling personnel. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly against all toolholder locating surfaces and verify the clamping mechanism is torqued and secured before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris that could affect seating and dimensional accuracy.
