The SEAL-TITE 697-08 is an adjustable ductboard takeoff fitting designed for use in low-pressure air distribution systems. This fitting connects a main ductboard trunk to a branch run, allowing airflow to be directed from the primary duct into a lateral supply path. The adjustable design accommodates variation in ductboard thickness, making field installation more straightforward. HVAC installers and sheet metal mechanics use this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work on residential and light commercial forced-air systems.
The 697-08 is sized for 8-inch duct connections and is suited for ductboard systems commonly found in residential forced-air heating and cooling installations. It is intended for use with flexible or rigid fiberglass ductboard trunk assemblies where a branch takeoff point is required. This fitting is typically installed during rough-in when the main trunk run is being assembled and branch supply lines are being laid out.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for residential and light commercial fiberglass ductboard air distribution systems requiring an 8-inch branch takeoff connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal mechanic. Shut down the air handling unit and confirm the system is de-energized before cutting into any duct section or modifying an existing trunk assembly. Seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or approved foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA guidelines. Do not exceed the pressure rating of the ductboard system when sizing or placing takeoff fittings.
