The SEAL-TITE 1728-08 is a round duct board spin-in collar designed for creating 8-inch branch connections in duct board HVAC distribution systems. The collar spins into a field-cut opening and locks in place using integrated mounting tabs, forming a secure take-off point for round pipe or flexible duct. A built-in damper blade allows the installer to balance airflow at the branch without adding a separate balancing device downstream. This fitting is a standard component in residential and light commercial forced-air systems where duct board is the primary trunk or plenum material.
The 1728-08 is used in duct board installations where round branch take-offs are required. It accepts 8-inch round rigid pipe or flex duct at the collar outlet, making it suitable for typical residential supply branch runs. The tab-mount design eliminates the need for screws or additional fasteners at the point of penetration, speeding up installation in new construction and retrofit applications where duct board trunks or plenums are in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for duct board HVAC distribution systems requiring 8-inch round branch connections.
Installation is performed by HVAC technicians as part of duct board system assembly or repair. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before cutting into any pressurized duct board section. Use a proper duct board knife and circle cutter sized to the collar diameter to ensure a clean, snug opening. Secure flex duct to the collar outlet with an approved clamp and mastic or UL-listed tape per local mechanical code requirements.
