The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TMI495-14HA is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal 3/4-14 UNS threads in CNC machining centers. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN+ coating, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding production environments. With a 0.495-inch cutting diameter, 4 right-hand helical flutes, and a long-reach design, it is suited for threading operations that require precision and tool rigidity in a single-pass or interpolated path. Machinists and CNC programmers in aerospace, oil and gas, and general manufacturing specify this tool for internal thread milling where tap breakage risk must be eliminated.
This thread mill is configured for internal threading applications on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. The long-reach design accommodates deeper bores or extended-reach setups. With a 1/2-inch shank diameter and 4-inch overall length, it mounts in standard collet chucks or shrink-fit holders. The 14 TPI pitch and 1.314-inch length of cut make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole internal threading in materials where carbide and AlTiN+ coating provide a clear advantage over HSS alternatives, including hardened steels, stainless alloys, and cast iron.
Designed for cutting 3/4-14 UNS internal threads; compatible with standard CNC machining centers equipped with helical interpolation and accepting a 1/2-inch shank in collet or shrink-fit toolholders.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling engineers. Secure the 1/2-inch shank in a balanced, runout-minimized holder before use - excessive runout will degrade thread quality and shorten tool life. Program the tool path using helical interpolation per the thread pitch and desired thread depth; consult the machine control documentation and tooling manufacturer feeds-and-speeds data for this material and coating combination. Ensure the spindle and axis drives are fully operational and all workholding is secure before initiating the thread milling cycle.
