The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS TM125-32 is a straight flute internal thread mill designed for cutting UNC 8-32 threads in a single helical pass. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for consistent thread geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features 3 flutes, a 0.25 inch shank diameter, and a bright (uncoated) finish. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.355 inch length of cut, it suits a wide range of CNC machining centers running rigid tapping or thread-milling cycles. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary users of this tool.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread milling operations on machining centers where a single tool must produce a finished 8-32 UNC thread form. It is appropriate for job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance facilities working with standard unified coarse thread fastener sizes. The 1/8 inch cutting diameter makes it capable of accessing the bore geometry required for number-8 screw threads without interference. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach for chip evacuation and heat management.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of thread-milling cycles; produces internal UNC 8-32 threads as an OEM-style solid carbide thread mill replacement or new tooling addition.
Thread milling requires a CNC control with helical interpolation capability and a correctly programmed thread-milling cycle - confirm control compatibility before setup. Secure the 0.25 inch shank in a precision collet or end mill holder with appropriate runout tolerance; excessive runout will degrade thread quality. Ensure spindle speed and feed rate are set per the manufacturer's cutting data for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide tools can be damaged by improper handling or storage.
