The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS GT062Q-10 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations on bored holes. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it delivers consistent cutting performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features a 1/4-inch shank diameter and a 0.0630-inch groove width, making it suited for precise retaining ring groove applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. Right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and toolroom professionals install and use this tool in CNC lathes and machining centers for internal groove work.
This grooving tool is intended for internal retaining ring groove cutting in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 0.2500 inches. It reaches a maximum hole depth of 0.6250 inches, allowing groove placement deep within a bore. The 1.875-inch shank length provides secure toolholder engagement, and the 2.5-inch overall length suits standard boring bar and tool block setups. Typical applications include precision machined components requiring internal retaining ring seats in production and job shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style grooving tool for use in CNC lathes and machining centers accepting a 1/4-inch round shank toolholder or collet system.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 1/4-inch shank firmly in a collet chuck or boring tool block before use, ensuring proper projection is set to avoid chatter. Confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Follow shop-specific speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in the workpiece material being cut.
