The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS GT062K-8 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal groove cutting in precision machining applications. Built from submicron carbide grade material, it delivers the edge retention and dimensional consistency required for retaining ring groove work. The tool features a 3/16 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 2 inches, with a 1.5 inch shank length and a 0.0500 inch projection. It cuts right-hand and is suited for use in CNC lathes and manual turning centers where tight groove tolerances are required.
This grooving tool is intended for internal retaining ring groove applications requiring a minimum hole diameter of 0.1870 inches and a maximum hole depth of 0.5000 inches. It is well suited to precision machining shops, toolrooms, and production environments where small-bore internal grooving is a routine operation. Machinists working with small-diameter bores and tight dimensional tolerances will find the submicron carbide construction appropriate for both ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style precision grooving tool for use in turning centers and lathes capable of accepting a 3/16 inch round shank toolholder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible toolholder or collet rated for the shank diameter before operation. Verify spindle and toolholder runout are within acceptable tolerances prior to cutting to protect the carbide cutting edge. Always follow machine shop safety protocols and consult the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for proper tool overhang and depth-of-cut settings.
