The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS BB125 is a radial relief boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on small-diameter features. Machined from submicron-grade solid carbide, this bar delivers rigidity and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions. It handles a minimum bore diameter of 0.12 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 0.625 inches. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard CNC and manual lathe setups. With a 0.125-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 1.5 inches, this is a compact tool built for tight-tolerance work in production and toolroom environments.
The BB125 is suited for machining small bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where close tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. Its uncoated submicron carbide construction makes it appropriate for applications where coating buildup could affect dimensional accuracy. Typical use cases include boring small pin holes, valve seats, and precision cavities on CNC lathes, Swiss-type screw machines, and manual toolroom lathes. It is sold individually and is handled by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit boring bar for tooling systems accepting a 0.125-inch round shank, including standard small-bore bar holders and Swiss-type machine turrets.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the boring bar from its holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the specified holder torque per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify bore alignment and tool overhang before taking any cuts to avoid chatter or deflection in this small-diameter tool.
