The SCIENTIFIC CUTTING TOOLS AS5202-02R is a carbide-tipped porting tool reamer designed to prepare hydraulic and pneumatic tube ports to aerospace and military fitting standards. It combines spotfacing and reaming in a single operation, cutting a 0.7420-inch spotface diameter and a 5/16-24 UNJF port thread seat in one pass. The tool features a 3-flute straight-flute geometry and a bright uncoated carbide-tipped cutting edge for clean, accurate results in tube port machining. Overall length is 3 inches, with a 1/2-inch straight shank and a 30-degree seal angle conforming to AS5202 and MS33649 specifications. Licensed machinists and aerospace maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this tooling.
This porting tool is used in applications involving 1/8-inch OD tubing (Tube Dash Number 2.000) where precision port preparation is required for straight-thread tube fittings. It is suited for both original fabrication and rework of fluid system ports in aerospace, defense, and high-integrity hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies. The minimum pilot diameter is 0.2760 inches and the maximum pilot diameter is 0.3305 inches, providing controlled piloting into existing port bores. Head length is 1.2500 inches and pilot length is 0.5260 inches.
Designed for use with 1/8-inch OD tubing (Tube Dash Number 2.000) port applications conforming to AS5202 and MS33649 standards. Workpiece compatibility is listed as tubes.
This tool is intended for use by qualified machinists or aerospace maintenance technicians operating drill presses, milling machines, or CNC equipment. Secure the workpiece firmly and ensure the tool is aligned concentrically with the existing port bore before engaging the pilot. Power down and de-energize all fluid system pressure before performing any port rework on installed assemblies. Follow applicable aerospace maintenance manuals and shop standards for final inspection of port seat geometry and surface finish.
