The SCHUNK 1407724 is a hydraulic tool chuck designed for CNC machining centers and milling applications requiring precise, vibration-damped tool holding. It accepts a 3/4 inch (19.05 mm) bore and mounts via a CAT40 taper shank interface. Hydraulic expansion clamping delivers a TIR of 0.003 mm, making it well suited for finishing passes and close-tolerance boring where runout directly affects surface quality and tool life. Through-coolant capability routes fluid directly to the cutting zone, supporting both flood and high-pressure coolant strategies. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel install and service this chuck.
This chuck is configured for CAT40 spindles commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shop and production environments. With a clamping depth of 52.07 mm and a projection of 33.02 mm, it provides stable engagement while keeping the tool gauge line close to the spindle face. The 33.02 mm nose diameter allows access in moderately confined workpiece geometries. Through-coolant support makes it practical for deep-pocket milling, reaming, and drilling cycles where chip evacuation is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style hydraulic chuck for CAT40 spindle tooling systems accepting a 3/4 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Use a clean, dry spindle taper and inspect the CAT40 interface for nicks or contamination before seating the chuck. Torque the retention knob to the spindle manufacturer's specification using a calibrated torque wrench. Do not use the hydraulic chuck with shank diameters outside the rated bore, as improper clamping load may compromise TIR and tool security.
