The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC RZM031BN is a relay protection module designed to safeguard relay coils and control circuits in industrial and commercial electrical installations. Operating at a coil voltage range of 24 to 60 volts DC, this module suppresses voltage transients and inductive kickback that occur when relay coils are de-energized. This protects both the relay and the switching device upstream, extending service life and reducing nuisance faults. Its compact form factor allows it to mount directly to compatible relay sockets without requiring additional panel space. Licensed electricians and controls technicians are the primary installers of this type of protection accessory.
The RZM031BN is intended for use with RGZ sockets compatible with the RXG relay series and RSZ sockets compatible with the RSB relay series. Typical applications include machine control panels, building automation systems, and process control enclosures where relay-based switching is used at 24 to 60 VDC. The module slots into the relay socket to provide inline coil protection without interrupting the existing circuit layout or requiring wire modifications.
Designed for use with RGZ sockets (RXG Series) and RSZ sockets (RSB Series) as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified controls technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the control panel before inserting or removing the protection module from the relay socket. The module plugs directly into the socket base — no tools are required for mounting, but verify coil voltage compatibility before installation. Do not apply AC voltage to a module rated for DC service.
