The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC LRD325L is a thermal IEC overload relay rated for 17 to 25 amps at up to 690 VAC. It uses thermal sensing to monitor motor current draw and trip the circuit when sustained overcurrent conditions occur, protecting motors and downstream equipment from heat-related damage. Trip Class 20 means the relay will trip within 20 seconds at 7.2 times the rated current from a cold state, which suits many standard industrial motor applications. Dimensions are 2.5 inches tall, 4.4 inches wide, and 5.4 inches in length. The unit weighs 0.97 pounds. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This relay is designed for use in industrial motor control applications where IEC-style contactors are specified. It pairs directly with LC1D40A and LC1D65A contactors for integrated overload protection in motor starter assemblies. Typical installations include three-phase motor circuits in commercial and light industrial settings such as pump panels, conveyor drives, compressor starters, and HVAC fan motor control panels.
Specified for use with LC1D40A and LC1D65A IEC contactors as part of a complete motor starter assembly.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the panel before mounting or wiring the relay. Verify that the contactor model is confirmed compatible before installation, and set the current adjustment dial to match the motor nameplate full-load amperage after mounting. Do not energize the circuit until all connections are secured and the enclosure is properly closed.
