The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC LRD325 is a thermal IEC overload relay rated for 17 to 25 amps at up to 690 VAC. It provides motor branch circuit protection by detecting sustained overcurrent conditions and tripping to interrupt the control circuit before thermal damage occurs. The LRD325 uses a bimetallic thermal sensing element to monitor current draw across all three phases. Trip Class 10A defines the maximum trip time under overload conditions, making this relay suited for standard induction motor applications. Electricians and industrial control technicians install this device as part of a motor starter assembly. It measures 5.5 inches in length, 4.3 inches in width, and 2.6 inches in height, and weighs 0.87 pounds.
The LRD325 is designed for use in motor control centers, panel boards, and standalone starter enclosures where IEC-style motor protection is required. It mounts directly onto compatible contactors, including the LC1D40A and LC1D65A, eliminating the need for separate mounting hardware. This relay is appropriate for commercial and light industrial applications where motors require reliable overload protection in compliance with IEC 60947-4-1 standards. Installation of motor overload relays should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 430 and applicable IEC standards. De-energize and lock out the circuit before mounting or wiring this device. Verify the full-load amperage of the motor and set the relay trip current accordingly within the 17 to 25 amp range. Do not bypass the overload relay or defeat the trip mechanism during testing or commissioning.
