The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC LRD14L is a 3-pole thermal overload relay rated for 7 to 10 amps at up to 690 VAC. It provides overcurrent and phase-loss protection for motor starter circuits by sensing heat generated from excess current draw. When load current exceeds the set trip threshold, the relay opens the control circuit to protect the downstream motor from damage. Trip Class 20 timing means the relay trips within 20 seconds at 7.2 times the full-load ampere setting. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this device as part of a complete motor starter assembly.
The LRD14L is designed for use in motor control applications where a contactor and overload relay are combined to form a full motor starter. It mounts directly to compatible Schneider Electric IEC contactors including the LC1D09, LC1D12, LC1D18, LC1D25, LC1D32, and LC1D38. Typical applications include HVAC fan and pump motor control, conveyor systems, and light industrial machinery in both commercial and industrial settings. NEMA Size 00 through 1 motor circuits are the intended application range.
Designed for direct mounting on Schneider Electric LC1D-series contactors: LC1D09, LC1D12, LC1D18, LC1D25, LC1D32, and LC1D38.
A licensed electrician should install this relay in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the motor control panel before removing or installing the overload relay. Verify the motor nameplate FLA falls within the 7 to 10 amp adjustment range before setting the dial. After installation, confirm the reset mode (manual or automatic) is configured appropriately for the application before restoring power.
