The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC LR3D06 is a thermal IEC overload relay rated for 1 to 1.6 amps at up to 690 volts AC. It protects downstream motor loads from sustained overcurrent conditions by sensing heat buildup through a bimetal thermal element. When current exceeds the set trip threshold, the relay interrupts the control circuit and prevents motor damage. It carries a Trip Class 10A rating, meaning it trips within 10 seconds under a cold start overload condition at six times the full-load ampere setting. Licensed electricians and industrial controls technicians install this device as part of a motor starter assembly in commercial and industrial electrical panels.
The LR3D06 is designed for use in direct-on-line and reversing motor starter assemblies. Its compact IEC form factor fits within standard enclosures and control panels where space is limited. Typical applications include HVAC compressor motor protection, pump motor circuits, conveyor drive controls, and other three-phase motor loads requiring reliable overload protection. The relay mounts directly to compatible contactors, eliminating the need for separate DIN rail mounting hardware in most installations.
The LR3D06 is specified for use with LC1D09 and LC1D38 contactors per manufacturer data.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 430 requirements for motor branch-circuit and overload protection. De-energize and lock out the circuit before handling the relay or contactor assembly. Set the overload adjustment dial to match the motor full-load ampere rating from the motor nameplate. Do not bypass or defeat the overload relay during commissioning or testing.
