The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037398 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.0600 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge, extending tool life in aggressive feed conditions. The 3-flute geometry with variable helix and variable index angles minimizes chatter and improves surface finish. Classified under the CoroMill Dura series, this single-end, centercutting tool is suited for machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, die-and-mold, and general metalworking environments.
This end mill is built for right-hand cutting with a right-hand spiral flute direction and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 1/2 inch in diameter. The bright uncoated finish makes it well-suited for applications where coating compatibility is a concern or where re-sharpening is planned. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. It is commonly used on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines handling ferrous and non-ferrous materials, particularly where a radius floor blend is required on pockets, slots, and profiling passes.
Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch straight-shank toolholders and collet chucks on CNC milling machines and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specifications and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fail suddenly if run with edge damage.
