The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037019 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, 7 flutes, and a 2 inch length of cut, this tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and superior surface finishes in ferrous and hardened materials. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-speed dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. A variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration, improving stability during deep-reach cuts. This end mill is part of the CoroMill Dura series, engineered for productivity in production floor environments and installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills in both job shop and production environments. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock holders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 4 inch overall length supports applications where moderate reach is required without sacrificing rigidity. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry, making it versatile across slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations. Material grade X1BH indicates suitability for milling hardened steels and high-temp alloys where tool wear resistance is critical.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide square end mill in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, compatible with standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, ER collet holders, and side-lock tool holders used in CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or tool-change state. Use a calibrated torque wrench when tightening collet nuts or set screws to holder manufacturer specifications — do not over-torque. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating; excessive runout reduces tool life and surface quality. Follow your facility lockout/tagout procedures before any manual contact with the cutting zone.
