The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037008 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the CoroMill Dura series platform, it features a 1/2-inch cutting diameter and a 0.015-inch corner radius that helps reduce stress concentrations at workpiece edges. The 7-flute geometry paired with variable helix and variable index design suppresses chatter and improves surface finish at higher feed rates. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless alloys, and similar difficult materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this end mill for finish and semi-finish profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill suits precision milling applications in job shops, aerospace component manufacturing, die and mold work, and general production machining. The single-end, center-cutting configuration allows plunge entry as well as ramping and helical interpolation into a workpiece. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard 1/2-inch ER or side-lock toolholders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 1-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth peripheral passes without excessive overhang.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, material grade X1BH.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge length and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature edge wear or fracture.
