The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036799 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 0.03 inch corner radius, this single-end mill delivers controlled edge geometry that reduces chipping and extends tool life in aggressive cuts. The 5-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with variable helix and variable index angles minimizes vibration and improves chip evacuation. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this tool well-suited for high-speed dry or near-dry machining of hardened steels and aerospace alloys. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments rely on tools like this for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is built for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. The 1-1/2 inch length of cut and 3-1/2 inch overall length give operators sufficient reach for most cavity and shoulder milling operations without sacrificing rigidity. Its centercutting capability allows for plunge entry, expanding its application to slotting and ramping operations. The CoroMill Dura series targets materials in the X1BH material grade category, which includes hardened steels commonly found in mold, die, and tooling work.
Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, material grade X1BH. Designed as an OEM-specified solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical tool holders compatible with CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized ER collet or side-lock holder rated for 3/8 inch shank diameter and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
