The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036789 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the CoroMill Dura series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8-inch diameter with a 0.03-inch corner radius and five flutes, delivering smooth cutting action and improved surface finish on hardened or abrasive workpiece materials. The AlTiN coating provides excellent heat and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in high-speed and dry cutting applications. Centercutting capability allows plunge milling in addition to standard peripheral and slot milling operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous metals, hardened steels, and cast iron in both vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. The variable helix and variable index geometry help reduce chatter and vibration during aggressive cuts, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Typical applications include contouring, profiling, and pocketing where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations in machined features.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch straight-shank collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, material grade X1BH.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Verify the collet or holder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after tightening to manufacturer-specified torque for the holder type in use.
