The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036771 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the CoroMill Dura series, designed for high-performance milling of hardened and difficult-to-machine materials. With a 0.25 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius, this tool produces precise features while reducing corner chipping and extending tool life. The AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and wear protection during demanding cutting operations. The 5-flute geometry with variable helix and variable index improves chip evacuation and dampens vibration. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contoured surfaces in ferrous and hardened alloy workpieces. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry and full-length lateral cutting. A 3 inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank support rigid toolholding in standard ER collets and end mill holders. It is commonly used in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking applications where tight tolerances and surface finish are required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill compatible with standard straight-cylindrical 1/4 inch shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and end mill holders used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet or chuck runout meets tolerance requirements for the intended application, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool builder guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and spindle speeds.
