The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036761 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 1/4 inch mill diameter and five flutes, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. A 36-degree variable helix angle, combined with variable index spacing, reduces harmonic chatter and improves surface finish. The overall length is 2.5 inches, with a 5/8 inch length of cut. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing operations in ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar difficult-to-machine alloys. The CoroMill Dura series from Sandvik Coromant targets applications where tool stability and wear resistance are critical. The 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry make this a conventional configuration compatible with standard spindle setups.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch end mill holders and ER collet chuck systems on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Part of the Sandvik Coromant CoroMill Dura series, material grade X1BH.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout state. Verify collet chuck or end mill holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly for tight-tolerance finishing operations.
