The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036231 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter and a 0.125 inch corner radius, this single-end, center-cutting tool reduces stress concentrations at corners and extends tool life in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The AlTiN coating enhances heat resistance and wear performance during high-speed and dry cutting operations. The variable helix and variable index geometry help suppress chatter and improve surface finish consistency. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC milling environments.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous metals, hardened steels, and high-temperature alloys in both production shop and job-shop settings. The 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute geometry are standard configurations for conventional CNC milling setups. The CoroMill Dura series designation indicates this tool is engineered for stable cutting conditions and reduced vibration in long-overhang or difficult-to-reach features.
Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, material grade X1BH. Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch straight-shank end mill holders and collet chuck systems on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before mounting. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and runout tolerances before beginning any cut.
