The SANDVIK COROMANT 8035589 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. It features a 11.13 mm (0.438 inch) diameter, a 0.018 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with variable helix and variable index geometry. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Single-end construction with centercutting capability allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and face milling. This tool belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series and is installed by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, hardened steels, and other ferrous alloys where edge stability and surface finish are critical. The variable helix and variable index design reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. Typical applications include profile milling, slotting, and finishing passes on components requiring tight radius tolerances at corners. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets and end mill holders with a 0.438 inch bore. It is used in both vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers across aerospace, die-mold, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 0.438 inch straight-cylindrical shank end mill holders and ER collet chucks. Compatible with CNC machining centers accepting a 0.438 inch shank diameter. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series; consult SANDVIK COROMANT tooling documentation for specific holder and grade recommendations for material grade X1BH.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from any holder. Ensure the collet or end mill holder bore is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the shank to full recommended gauge length. Do not exceed the holder manufacturer's maximum runout tolerance, as excess runout accelerates flute wear and degrades surface finish.
