The SANDVIK COROMANT 8029500 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in MH20 series milling cutters. Identified by ANSI and ISO code MH20-080425M-M20 4340, this right-hand, single-sided insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive 13-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. It carries a triple-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and heat management during continuous and interrupted cuts. With two cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0472 inches, it is suited to moderate material removal on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians, this insert fits screw-clamped toolholders in the MH20 cutter series.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials steel and stainless steel, corresponding to ISO material grades P and M, and carries manufacturer grade designation 4340 with material grade classification P40, M40, and K40. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile operations on ferrous materials in both production and job-shop environments. The M20 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions, balancing chip control with cutting edge stability across a range of feeds and depths. Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle locked out and all power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for debris or damage before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
