The SANDVIK COROMANT 7963631 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-demand material removal in superalloys and titanium. Part of the CoroMill Plura Series 2F380, it features a 20 mm cutting diameter, a 3 mm corner radius, and five helical flutes with a close pitch configuration. The tool carries a multilayer TiAlSiN PVD coating applied by physical vapor deposition, which supports thermal resistance during aggressive cutting passes. With an extended reach design and coolant-through capability, it is built for deep-pocket and long-reach roughing operations where chip evacuation and tool life are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace and energy component manufacturing are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for single-end roughing operations on workpieces classified under material code S, covering nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The extended neck geometry, with a 19 mm neck diameter and 111 mm reach length, allows access into deep features while maintaining rigidity. The Weldon Flat shank interfaces directly with compatible toolholders and is held to an h6 shank diameter tolerance for consistent runout in production environments. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this tool.
Designed for use with compatible toolholders accepting a 20 mm Weldon Flat shank. Intended for CNC milling operations on superalloys and titanium workpieces. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Plura Series 2F380.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify Weldon Flat set-screw engagement against the flat to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Confirm coolant-through passages in the toolholder are unobstructed before commencing cuts in superalloy or titanium materials.
