The SANDVIK COROMANT 7861143 is a WNMG432-WF turning insert from the T-Max P series, manufactured in solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN. It features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. The WF chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces in continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and turning center operators running production or job-shop turning operations on steel and cast iron components.
The WNMG432-WF 4425 is designed for external and internal turning applications on steel (ISO P) as the primary workpiece material and cast iron (ISO K) as a secondary application. The T-Max P series is a general-purpose turning platform suited for medium to finishing passes where consistent surface finish and tool life are required. The WF chip breaker is well-matched to light-to-medium chip loads on steel at moderate feed rates. Six cutting edges per insert are available before replacement, supporting efficient tooling cost management in production environments.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement insert for turning toolholders accepting WNMG 432 (WNMG 08 04 08) geometry inserts with clamp or screw holding. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO P); secondary compatibility is cast iron (ISO K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Shut down spindle rotation and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified hardware when seating the insert with a clamp or screw holding system — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before mounting to ensure proper seating and runout control.
