The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860828 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated CCMT32.53-PR 4425, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) with a 9.53 mm inscribed circle and a 1.19 mm corner radius. The CVD-applied multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The PR chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip evacuation in steel and cast iron applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance and setup.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is suited for light to medium turning on both steel and cast iron workpieces. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO Code P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO Code K). The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of lathe configurations. Typical applications include finish to semi-finish turning passes where close tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. It is held in place by clamp or screw, compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in the CoroTurn 107 series with standard CCMT-style toolholders. ISO designation CCMT 09 T3 12-PR 4425. Compatible with CCMT insert seats using clamp or screw holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp or screw to prevent insert rocking or micro-movement during the cut. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain tool height repeatability.
