The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860826 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. Shaped to the CCMT diamond geometry with an 80-degree included angle, it delivers a stable cutting edge and predictable chip control through the PR chip breaker. With a 0.79 mm corner radius and an inscribed circle of 6.35 mm, this insert is sized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut applications on steel and cast iron workpieces.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish turning of steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary application on cast iron. The PR chip breaker geometry handles continuous cuts where controlled chip evacuation is critical. It fits standard CCMT-style toolholders that accept clamp or screw holding methods and is a common choice for production turning on both manual and CNC platforms. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a variety of toolholder configurations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the typical installers.
Designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders with clamp or screw clamping, consistent with CoroTurn 107 series toolholder specifications. ISO code CCMT 06 02 08-PR 4425. Primary application is steel; secondary application is cast iron.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture — follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the specific holder in use. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Never run the insert beyond visible flank wear limits, as this increases cutting forces and risks workpiece damage or insert failure.
