The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860812 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ISO code CCMT 09 T3 08-PM 4425 and belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a 9.53 mm inscribed circle, and a 0.79 mm corner radius, this insert is engineered for turning applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. It is held by clamp or screw and offers two cutting edges per insert.
This insert is rated primarily for steel (ISO material group P) and secondarily for cast iron (ISO material group K), making it a versatile choice for general turning in both production and job-shop environments. The PM chip breaker geometry is suited for medium turning passes where consistent chip control is required. Typical applications include external and internal turning of steel shafts, flanges, and cast iron components on both light-duty and production-grade turning centers. The neutral hand configuration allows use in standard right-hand toolholders without repositioning.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCMT-style inserts with a 9.53 mm inscribed circle and clamp or screw holding. ISO code CCMT 09 T3 08-PM 4425 can be referenced when cross-referencing to compatible toolholder catalogs.
Indexable turning inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the toolholder manufacturer's seating and torque procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper insert contact and runout. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
