The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860701 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for general turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert features a solid carbide substrate with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal protection in continuous and interrupted cut applications. With an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C), a 0.75-inch (19.05 mm) inscribed circle, and a 0.79 mm corner radius, it is suited for medium to finishing passes. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel turning and delivers reliable chip control across a range of feeds and depths of cut.
This insert is intended for use in external and internal turning, facing, and profiling operations on CNC turning centers. The primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO code P), with cast iron (ISO code K) listed as the secondary application. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand tool holders accepting CNMG-style inserts. Each insert provides 4 usable cutting edges, improving cost-per-edge efficiency in production environments. This is a single-insert package with a minimum order quantity of 10 inserts.
Designed for use in CNMG-style tool holders accepting a 0.75-inch (19.05 mm) inscribed circle insert with a 0.3120-inch (7.93 mm) hole diameter. ISO code CNMG 19 06 08-PM 4425. Compatible with clamp and screw holding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tools as specified by the tool holder manufacturer when securing the insert clamp or screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or contamination before seating a new cutting edge.
