The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860567 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This TNMM433-PR insert carries the manufacturer grade 4415 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The triangular insert shape provides three cutting edges per insert. With a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and a 1.19 mm (0.0469 inch) corner radius, it is suited for moderate to heavy roughing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is rated primarily for machining steel (ISO material group P) and secondarily for cast iron (ISO material group K). The PR chip breaker geometry is optimized for positive chip control during continuous and interrupted cuts in steel components. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it interchangeable across right- and left-hand toolholders that accept the TNMM form factor. Typical applications include shaft turning, flange facing, and general-purpose turning on medium to large lathes in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting TNMM-style inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. Compatible holding methods include clamp and screw styles. ISO code TNMM 22 04 12-PR 4415 and industry standard number TNMM 22 04 12-PR 4415 confirm cross-reference fitment. Catalog reference TNMM 433-PR applies.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a full lockout/tagout state before any toolholder access. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and verify the clamping screw or clamp engages the hole (0.2030 inch diameter) correctly before torquing. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris prior to indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Discard the insert when all three cutting edges show wear beyond acceptable limits rather than attempting to regrind carbide inserts.
