The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860561 is a TNMG-style indexable turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The triangular insert geometry provides 6 usable cutting edges per insert. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.4 mm corner radius, and a 60-degree included angle, it is suited for medium finishing to semi-roughing passes. The PF chip breaker geometry is engineered to produce controlled chip formation on steel workpieces.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K) in production turning environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand tool holders without repositioning. The T-Max P series is a widely adopted platform in production shops running high-volume turning operations on lathes with rigid setups. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians are the typical end users. The ISO code for this insert is TNMG 16 04 04-PF 4415, and the manufacturer catalog number is TNMG 331-PF.
Designed for use in TNMG-style clamp and screw-type turning tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Compatible with tool holders conforming to ISO code TNMG 16 04 04. Sold in minimum order quantity of 10, packaged individually.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC turning technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured in a safe condition before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating hardware when securing the insert via clamp or screw to ensure proper seating and prevent micro-movement under cutting loads. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
