The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859112 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT 32.51-UM 4415 designation, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and semi-continuous turning operations. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape (insert shape code D), a 3/8 inch inscribed circle (0.3750 inches, 9.53 mm), a corner radius of 0.40 mm (0.0156 inches), and a neutral hand orientation. The UM chip breaker geometry targets medium-range cutting conditions. Grade 4415 is a CVD-coated carbide grade suited primarily for steel and cast iron machining.
This insert is intended for external turning and profiling applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. Its primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO code P), with secondary suitability for cast iron (ISO code K). The DCMT form factor and CoroTurn 107 series design make it a fit for screw-clamp and clamp-style toolholders accepting DCMT inserts. Typical applications include finishing to medium roughing passes on steel components in production and job-shop environments. The 2-cutting-edge configuration allows the insert to be indexed once before replacement.
Designed for use in screw-style and clamp-style DCMT toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 system. ISO code DCMT 11 T3 04-UM 4415. Accepts inserts with a hole diameter of 0.1732 inches (4.40 mm). Compatible with toolholder systems specifying DCMT 3(2.5)1 insert geometry.
Installation is performed by machining technicians or CNC setup personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
