The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859082 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT style, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO code CCMT 06 02 08-WF 4415, it features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN that resists wear and manages heat during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (C) provides strong cutting edge geometry, and the WF chip breaker geometry controls chip flow effectively at light-to-medium depths of cut. With a 0.79 mm corner radius and a 6.35 mm inscribed circle, the insert suits finish to semi-finish turning applications. Grade 4415 is optimized for steel and cast iron workpiece materials.
This insert belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, intended for light and medium turning where secure chip control and surface finish quality are priorities. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for cast iron (ISO material code K). The neutral hand orientation makes it usable in standard right-hand toolholders configured for CCMT-style inserts. Licensed HVAC and industrial machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC turning specialists working in job shops or production environments are the typical end users for this insert.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts within the CoroTurn 107 series. Compatible with standard CCMT 06 02 08 insert seats. Primary workpiece suitability is steel (ISO P); secondary suitability is cast iron (ISO K).
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before seating the insert, power down the machine spindle and engage the axis locks per standard lockout-tagout procedures. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before clamping. Torque the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification found in the toolholder documentation — do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide substrate.
