The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859077 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. It carries the ISO designation CCMT 06 02 04-UF 4415 and belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (shape code C) delivers a strong cutting edge with good approach-angle flexibility. With a 0.40 mm corner radius and a 6.35 mm inscribed circle, this insert is sized for light to medium material removal passes requiring tight tolerances.
This insert is suited for turning steel and cast iron workpieces in both production shop and job-shop environments. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, producing tight chips and fine surface finishes at lower depths of cut and feed rates. Typical applications include shoulder turning, facing, and contour turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both right-hand and left-hand tool holders. It is held by clamp or screw methods and is compatible with standard CCMT toolholders. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders and other compatible CCMT 06 02 insert seat toolholders. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material group P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material group K).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain proper insert geometry and runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for clamp screws — do not over-torque, as this can crack the insert or damage the seat.
