The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859060 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision lathe and turning center operations. It carries the ISO designation DNMG 15 04 04-PF 4415 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate. The 55-degree diamond insert shape and PF chip breaker geometry make it well suited for finishing and light-to-medium roughing passes. With four available cutting edges and a 0.40 mm corner radius, this insert delivers consistent surface finish and tool life in production turning environments. It belongs to the T-Max P series, engineered for reliable clamping in both clamp and screw-lock toolholders.
This insert is used primarily in CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing external and internal turning operations. The 4415 grade is optimized for steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO P), with cast iron (ISO K) as a secondary application. It fits toolholders with a 0.5000-inch (12.70 mm) inscribed circle seating and is appropriate for shops running high-volume steel component turning where consistent chip control and coating durability are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the typical end users.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle seating. Compatible with clamp-style and screw-lock turning toolholders dimensioned for DNMG 1504 inserts. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P code); secondary is cast iron (ISO K code).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when using screw-lock holders — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating a new cutting edge.
