The SANDVIK COROMANT 7781848 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Designed to the DIN 6535HA specification, it carries a multi-layer PVD TiAlSiN plus TiSiN coating that extends tool life when cutting steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. The 140-degree point angle promotes aggressive entry and reduces thrust force. At 8.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 126.00 mm and a flute length of 84.00 mm, this drill handles depths up to 65.50 mm in a single pass. It is part of the Series 860-GM, a line built for high-speed, high-feed applications in CNC machining centers and automated transfer lines. Internal coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting edge.
This drill is suited for industrial and precision machining operations where consistent hole quality and extended tool life are critical. Primary target materials include steel (ISO P), stainless and heat-resistant alloys (ISO M and ISO S), cast iron (ISO K), non-ferrous materials (ISO N), and hardened materials (ISO H). It is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, Tier 1 manufacturing, and aerospace or automotive production cells. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, or shrink-fit toolholders that accept an 8.00 mm bore. Right-hand cutting direction is standard.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and direct-use drill for CNC machining centers and automated drilling stations requiring an 8.00 mm straight-shank carbide drill conforming to DIN 6535HA. Compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Confirm the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the straight shank; runout must be verified with a dial indicator to avoid premature edge wear. Ensure machine spindle and coolant supply are fully shut down before tool changes. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated feed and speed parameters for the target workpiece material, as carbide tooling is sensitive to interrupted cuts and side loading.
