The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564589 is a round, solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R300-series face and shoulder milling applications. This single-sided insert carries a three-layer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — applied to a solid carbide substrate in manufacturer grade 4340. It measures 0.5 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1563 inches thick, with a 0.25-inch corner radius and a positive rake angle of 20 degrees. The insert is held in place by a screw and delivers 6 cutting edges per insert, making it a cost-effective option for high-volume material removal on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material grades P40, M40, and K40. Its neutral hand orientation allows use in standard R300-series toolholders without regard to spindle direction preference. The PM chip breaker geometry supports both roughing and semi-finishing cuts. Maximum depth of cut is 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches). Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping on CNC machining centers in production shop and job shop environments.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT RA300-series cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO code R300-1340M-PM 4340. Cutter series compatibility listed as RA300. Insert size code 1340.
Insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked, zero-energy state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Index to the next cutting edge or replace the insert when surface finish or chip formation indicates edge wear.
