The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564552 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in milling operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Classified under manufacturer grade 4340, the insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The rectangular insert profile follows the N331.1A series designation with a positive rake geometry and a neutral hand orientation. At 3.5 mm thick and 9.5 mm wide with a 0.50 mm corner radius, it is sized for precise chip control in shoulder and face milling applications. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician typically specifies and installs this insert.
This insert is suited for use in CNC milling centers handling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces across both roughing and semi-finishing operations. The PL chip breaker geometry promotes positive cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. The insert is compatible with the N331.32 cutter series and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under the code N331.1A-04 35 05H-PL4340, making it a direct fit for toolholders specified to that standard.
Designed for use with the N331.32 cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standard N331.1A-04 35 05H-PL4340. Suitable for toolholders accepting inserts with an inscribed circle in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 decimal inch range and a thickness in the 0.1250 to 0.1500 decimal inch range.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer; do not overtighten, as this can crack carbide inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
